Major sponsor of the 2022 Tony Cote First Nations Summer Games

Wednesday, July 13, 2022 – Saskatoon, SK – The Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority (SIGA) presented a $125,000 cheque Tuesday afternoon to the organizing committee of the 2022 Tony Cote First Nations Summer Games.

“The 2022 Tony Cote Summer Games, has been a long-term legacy commitment of SIGA—a core corporate pillar for SIGA is supporting Indigenous youth,” said Hansen. The Games brings out the best of over 4,000 Indigenous athletes from across the province who will be competing from July 24 to 30, with events being held in and around the Saskatoon region and at Whitecap Dakota First Nation. “These Games are a celebration of our youth and the strength and resilience of our people and throughout the games we will honor the very powerful message that ‘Every Child Matters (which is a core theme of the Games this year),’” said Hansen.

SIGA invests $1.3M in sponsorships annually and in the first quarter of this year has already given back to over a hundred and fifty grassroots community sponsorships and events.

“We are grateful to SIGA’s long-term support of the Games and stepping up as one of our Exclusive Investors/Presenting Partners for the 2022 Tony Cote First Nations Summer Games,” said James Smith Cree Nation Chief Wally Burns. James Smith Cree Nation is the official host for this year’s Summer Games.

“Our Community Investment Program was on hiatus last year due to the financial impacts of COVID- 19,” said SIGA CEO and President Zane Hansen. “We are proud to be back in the communities again, where we live, work and play, giving back and reinvesting dollars generated back into Saskatchewan,” said Hansen.
