30 Years of Sharing Success: SIGA’s Community Investment Fund increased to $2 Million to Strengthen Saskatchewan Communities

Increased investment to support local events, sports teams, fundraisers and cultural celebrations province-wide

SASKATOON, SK — The Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority (SIGA) is proud to announce a significant expansion of its Community Investment Program, increasing the annual sponsorship to $2 million. For more than 30 years, SIGA has been committed to Sharing Success across Saskatchewan, a reflection of its deeply rooted guiding principle of Wîtaskêwin — a Cree concept centred on sharing the land and sharing resources with one another.

The expanded fund will be directed toward sponsoring local community events, sports teams, fundraisers, and cultural celebrations throughout the province. As a non-profit, SIGA aims to meaningfully impact all Saskatchewan residents, with 100% of its net proceeds reinvested back.

Community Impact at the Heart of Everything We Do

“The Community Investment Program is the embodiment of who we are as an organization. Every dollar we invest reflects our responsibility to the communities where we live and operate. Increasing our fund to $2 million means more youth can participate in sports, more Elders can celebrate their culture, more families can access vital supports, and more local organizations can bring their visions to life. This is about building a stronger, healthier Saskatchewan — together.”

— Desiree Gervais, Vice President of HR & Corporate Relations, SIGA

Socially Responsible

In 2024-25, SIGA’s social responsibility efforts created 673 community partnerships, provided $55,000 in scholarships, and saw more than 3,100 volunteer hours contributed by SIGA employees — with 32% of the workforce taking part in volunteerism initiatives. The Community Investment Program is one pillar of this broader commitment, alongside scholarships, volunteerism, environmental stewardship, and the celebration of First Nations culture.

The Community Investment Program accepts applications across five key sectors:

  • Sport and Recreation — with special emphasis on programs for youth and people with disabilities
  • Health and Well-Being — including food security, mental health, early childhood development, and addiction prevention programs
  • Education and Training — including Treaty Knowledge and Treaty-based education programming
  • Arts and Culture — including First Nations traditional and cultural events and broader arts initiatives
  • Business and Tourism — programs that build community alliances and align with SIGA’s corporate vision

When evaluating sponsorship applications, SIGA prioritizes initiatives that improve quality of life for the socially and economically disadvantaged, demonstrate good corporate citizenship, and align with SIGA’s mission to Sharing Success in the communities where it operates.
